Reindexing Magento 2 from Admin

What is Reindex for Magento 2?

In native Magento 2, manual reindexing from the Admin panel is not available by default, requiring store managers to either wait for cron jobs (“Update on Save”) or run CLI commands (bin/magento indexer:reindex) via SSH, which can be inconvenient for store administrators and content managers.

With our free Reindex module for Magento 2, you can quickly and easily trigger index updates for individual indexers or all indexers directly from the Magento Admin Index Management screen with a single click.

Step 1 - Install Magento Reindex

composer require magepal/magento2-reindex
Manually
  • Download and install our core extension:
    • https://github.com/magepal/magento2-core
  • Download the extension archive.
  • Unzip the archive.
  • Create the target directory: {Magento 2 root}/app/code/MagePal/Reindex
  • Copy the contents from the unzipped folder into this directory.

Step 2 - Enable Module

Run the following commands from your Magento root folder:

php -f bin/magento module:enable --clear-static-content MagePal_Reindex
php -f bin/magento setup:upgrade

Step 3 - How to Reindex from Admin

  1. Log into your Magento 2 Admin Panel.
  2. Navigate to System > Tools > Index Management.
  3. Select the indexers you wish to rebuild.
  4. From the Actions dropdown menu, select Reindex Data and click Submit.
